what is iz?
iz is a mobile app that lets you discover thoughts left by others at your location and leave your own. think of it like finding writings on walls during a night walk.
how long do traces last?
a trace stays for 30 days. if no one reads it for 25 days, it starts to fade and disappears on day 30. if read, its life extends.
am i anonymous?
yes, you can stay completely anonymous if you want. showing your name or username is your choice. other users only see your traces, not who you are.
is my data safe?
yes. we're gdpr compliant. you can export your data in json format anytime or completely delete your account. all communication is encrypted with ssl/tls.
which platforms?
iz is available on both ios and android. download for free from the app store and google play.
do you sell my data?
no, never. we don't sell your data to third parties or share with advertisers. only our service providers (supabase, expo) access data for technical infrastructure.
is my location data stored?
your location history is not stored. only the instant location when you leave or read a trace is used. trace locations are stored but your movement history is not tracked.
how can i delete my account?
go to settings > account > delete account to permanently delete your account and all data. this action cannot be undone and will delete all your traces and notifications.
is there an age limit?
yes, users under 16 cannot register for iz. age verification is done during registration. this is a measure we take for child safety.
how does content moderation work?
automatic content filtering blocks inappropriate content. users can report disturbing traces. traces with 3 or more reports are automatically hidden and reviewed.
can i export my data?
yes, you have the right to data portability under gdpr. go to settings > privacy > download my data to download all your traces, notifications and settings in json format.
what data is collected?
email address (for registration), instant location (for leaving/reading traces), your traces and postcards, device token (for notifications). location history or personal profile information is not stored.
